This walk can be started from the Portavescovo cable car station (2478 mt); from there path 601, slightly downhill, leads along the mountain ridge towards Pordoi Pass. The trail develops with no great difference in altitude and in a wonderful scenery: down below is the Fedaia lake, dominated by the imposing Marmolada glacier. Once reached the hut Fredarola, the path leads downhill to Pordoi Pass (2239 mt), form where it is possible to get a SAD bus back to Arabba. The trail steadily keeps at the same altitude, about 2,500 mt, and there are some huts along the way. The trail was once covered by caravans carrying goods from the neighbouring Fassa valley to the valley of Cordevole, as it was considered safer than the valley floor. After being abandoned, in the first years of the 20th century the trail was restored by the German mountaineer Karl Bindel; today it is thus still named “Bindelweg (about 2.30 hrs, maximum altitude: m. 2478 – Difficulty: medium).
